The Vanguard Corps is a military unit from Attack on Titan Volume 0, the rough draft story Hajime Isayama produced before the series proper. Charged with keeping Titans off human land, the depleted unit freezes when one of the creatures reaches the city, leaving the soldier Murakumo to bring it down alone.
Volume 0 shows Murakumo coming home to the city with what remains of the corps. Their ranks have thinned, and the sortie has produced nothing worth reporting. When a Titan later assaults the city itself, the soldiers waver instead of moving to put the threat down, and the kill ultimately belongs to Murakumo by himself.
The corps exists to defend humanity's territory against Titans, operating under an officer who carries the title of Commander. As depicted in the draft, its manpower is badly depleted, and its hesitation during the city attack shows a unit far from fighting strength.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Only two members are identified by name, Murakumo and Takanami, and both are marked as deceased. The organization is confined to Isayama's draft one-shot and appears nowhere else in the franchise, surviving as a glimpse of the earliest version of the story.
