Marley's Soldiers

With Fort Slava's armored train disabled, the order goes out for the final assault. Marley's Eldian infantry advances behind Galliard's Jaw Titan, which tears through the panicking Mid-East Allied Forces, while Pieck's Cart Titan, fitted with artillery manned by four riders, silences anyone who returns fire. Amid the carnage, Falco drags a wounded enemy soldier to safety, angering his superior Koslow. Gabi accuses him of collecting proof that she broke international law to block her from inheriting the Armored Titan, which Falco denies; Udo translates the rescued soldier's words, and Koslow laughs with delight on hearing the candidates called demons.

Magath solicits Colt's read on the battle, and on his advice recalls all ground troops so the airborne phase can begin. Captive Eldians are dropped by parachute from the airship overhead, and Zeke's roar converts them into Pure Titans mid-fall. Dozens of Titans crash into Fort Slava, flattening buildings and soldiers; the survivors among them rise and begin devouring the garrison while an officer muses that Marleyan ancestors once died in exactly this way at Eldian hands.

Parachuting in behind them, Reiner marks the surviving anti-Titan artillery positions, glares at yet another wall, and transforms into the Armored Titan. The guns prove capable of punching through his armor, but Galliard's intervention lets the pair destroy the batteries together. On Reiner's signal, Zeke descends, reflecting that the Warriors' failure on Paradis caused this entire war, then transforms and hurls salvaged artillery shells at the Mid-East fleet in the bay. The ships' return fire catches him off guard, and only Reiner's Titan, used as a shield, saves him. The barrage still sinks the fleet, and the four-year Marley Mid-East War ends in a peace treaty. Yet the existence of weapons that can wound the Warriors convinces Marley that reclaiming the Founding Titan has become urgent.

Galliard's Jaw Titan and Pieck's artillery-mounted Cart Titan spearhead the ground assault on Fort Slava.

Falco saves an enemy soldier who repays him by calling the Eldian candidates demons, deepening the chapter's picture of mutual hatred.

Zeke transforms parachuting Eldian captives into Pure Titans above the fort, annihilating its defenders in a Titan airstrike.

Reiner and Galliard destroy the anti-Titan artillery after discovering it can pierce the Armored Titan's plating.

Zeke's thrown shells sink the Mid-East fleet, ending the four-year war, but the new weaponry convinces Marley it must seize the Founding Titan.

Marley's Soldiers is the 92nd chapter of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan, second in volume 23, released April 8, 2017 in Japan and a day earlier in English. It belongs to the Marley arc, between The Other Side of the Ocean and Midnight Train, and was adapted in the anime episode The Other Side of the Sea.

The Japanese title uses the word senshi, which later chapters consistently render as "Warrior" when referring to Marley's Eldian fighters. A more precise translation would therefore be Marley's Warriors, but the official English release followed the "soldier" rendering used earlier in chapters 31 and 34.

The Fort Slava battle establishes the series' new stakes: Titans are no longer unbeatable, and Marley's military dominance is running out of time.
