Hassan

Hassan belongs to the household of General Julius as a tutor, a gentle attendant at the side of the general's young son Adonis rather than a man of the battlefield.

Compassion defines him. He is the one person who comforts Adonis after each grueling training session, urging the boy not to hold his father's harshness against him and explaining that Julius has driven him toward knighthood ever since the death of his mother. Caring enough to speak up, he even appeals to the general to ease off, reminding him that Adonis is only thirteen and still grieves for his mother, only to be waved away.

Hassan's small role turns tragic when Guts, acting on Griffith's orders, slips into the manor and kills Julius, then slays Adonis by mistake as the boy opens a door. Learning of the two deaths, Hassan is left to mourn, aching over the fact that Adonis never once managed to earn a smile from his father.
