Rather than charge blindly for the sake of honor, he presses Mule on whether it makes sense to spend their lives guarding aristocrats who will not even admit them into their castle. His instinct leans toward alliance over sacrifice, and it is he who suggests seeking a stronger banner to shelter beneath instead of throwing the company into a hopeless fight.

As the Kushan press on Lumias, Saritus questions his commander when Mule Wolflame seems set on striking the enemy army, prompting Mule to bark at him and doubt his nerve. When Mule invokes the kin who perished defending Midland's nobility, Saritus counters that dying for royals who bar them from their own castle seems pointless.

He then brings up a highly regarded force camped near the border, led by the White Falcon, Griffith. Mule reacts with disbelief, having heard the commander was tortured to death three years earlier, but Saritus relays a rumor of a rescue and claims to know where the man now is. His proposal is that the two armies unite and petition that leader for favor rather than gamble everything alone.
