The forty-seventh chapter, Wound (2), has Guts confront the darkest parts of his past as he tells Casca about Donovan and the accidental killing of Gambino. With their scars laid bare, the two find comfort in each other and fall asleep together at last.
Lost in the delusion that he is Donovan throttling his younger self, Guts has in fact pinned Casca against the tree by the throat. Snapping back to awareness, he releases her and blurts that he never intended to kill Gambino. He then tells Casca of the torment Donovan inflicted on him and how helpless he had been to stop it.
His childhood floods back, and he recounts being taken in by Gambino only to be sold off by that same man to Donovan. Guts admits he killed Donovan and staged it as an enemy raid, and that he later killed the drunken Gambino by accident while defending himself. Collapsing onto his hands and knees, he calls out for the adoptive father he lost. When Casca lays a hand on his shoulder he jerks violently, then returns to the present.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Struck by how brutal he made her first time, Guts throws her his cape to cover herself and offers to leave if she wishes it. He explains the nightmares of Donovan and Gambino had been gone for roughly a year before their attempt at intimacy stirred them awake. Casca casts the cape aside and embraces him from behind, more at ease now that each has bared their scars. Their second time is far gentler, and afterward Guts recalls a boyhood moment of working Gambino's salve into the very nose wound the man had dealt him. The two sleep in each other's arms until dawn.
"Wound (2)" is Episode 47 of Berserk's Golden Age Arc, continuing directly from Episode 46, "Wound (1)." It follows Guts as he confronts the darkest parts of his past with Casca.
Guts tells Casca about the torment Donovan inflicted on him as a child and admits he killed Donovan, staging it as an enemy raid. He also confesses he accidentally killed his adoptive father Gambino while defending himself.
According to Episode 47, Guts kills Donovan and disguises the killing as an enemy raid to hide what really happened. He reveals this to Casca only after his flashback breaks.
When Guts collapses calling out for Gambino, Casca lays a hand on his shoulder, and he jerks back to the present. Once he offers her his cape and mentions leaving, she instead casts the cape aside and embraces him from behind.
Episode 47 ends with a gentler second encounter between Guts and Casca, after which the two fall asleep together in each other's arms until dawn. Guts also recalls a boyhood memory tied to a nose wound Gambino once gave him.
