History
Reaching back over a hundred years, Chikane filled the role of lieutenant in the Third Division during the era when Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi captained it. As an officer of the Gotei 13 she commanded a high level of spiritual energy. Somewhere along the way she gave birth to Tetsuzaemon Iba. Her own Zanpakutō and its abilities were never disclosed, and the lieutenant's seat she held would in time be filled by Izuru Kira.
