Karin Kurosaki's Friends

Each boy is drawn with an exaggerated, cartoonish look. Ryohei keeps his hair black along the sides and blond on top, while Heita has a stern face, heavy brows, and pointed spikes at the edges of his hair. Kei wears a round afro over a bulbous nose and thick lips, earning the nickname Donny for his resemblance to Ronald McDonald. Kazuya rounds out the group with short brown hair, bangs stopping just above one eye, and a pair of glasses.

All four share the same broad strokes: they love soccer, tend to be shallow, and look up to Karin as the strongest and smartest among them. Timid by nature, they duck behind her the moment anything feels threatening. A few quirks set them apart, with Ryohei the most lecherous of the bunch and Kazuya the least sharp, though it is usually Kei who works up the nerve to speak when the group hesitates.

In the Agent of the Shinigami arc, one of Karin's stray kicks catches Heita in the face, and when she stalks off, Kei insists on chasing after her. The boys blunder into Sado's fight against the Hollow Bulbous G, which they cannot see and mistake for a scuffle between Karin and Sado, before Karin shoves them out of harm's way. In the Arrancar arc, older boys bump them off their reserved pitch, prompting a challenge match; Karin tries to recruit Tōshirō Hitsugaya, who wins the boys over by kicking a ball back into Kei's face. Despite Karin's injury and a lopsided score, Tōshirō joins late and carries them to victory, after which the group scatters from a Hollow he cuts down in an instant.
