Lumina and Verona

Both are stubby, rotund Arrancar so alike that only their hairstyles set them apart. Verona keeps his black hair gathered in a short ponytail, while Lumina wears hers in black pigtails.

The two match each other in temperament as closely as in looks. Bursting with energy, they share a habit of repeating whatever they have just said, finishing one another's sentences and volleying a single word back and forth, as they do with the word 'dead' upon learning of Aaroniero Arruruerie's demise. They adore Szayelaporro and rush to his side the instant they believe he is hurt. Any setback flips that energy into raw despair, most sharply when Verona wails Lumina's name again and again after she is gone, until Szayelaporro snaps at him and promises a replacement.

Lumina and Verona report Aaroniero's death to Szayelaporro as casually as any routine event, then watch as he battles the intruders. After Renji Abarai and Uryū Ishida's explosions leave him badly wounded, Szayelaporro devours Lumina to mend himself, sending Verona into tears until his master vows to simply make another one. Verona's fate afterward, like that of the rest of Szayelaporro's Fracción, is never revealed. Beyond the restorative effect Szayelaporro gained by eating Lumina, neither of the pair is ever shown using a power of their own.
