Summary

His Bankai neutralized the instant it forms, Renji Abarai learns that Szayelaporro Granz sealed the room after studying Hihiō Zabimaru through the corpse of his own brother, Yylfordt. Szayelaporro treats his sibling as mere data and toys with Renji, feigning weakness before revealing he can read every one of Zabimaru's strikes. Renji lands only a grazing blow after learning that Rukia and the Espada she fought have killed one another.

Elsewhere, Ichigo senses Rukia's Reiatsu plummet and is stopped on a stairway by Ulquiorra Cifer, who calmly reports that a trident pierced her and that she is dead. Ichigo refuses to believe it and turns to leave, seeing no reason to fight an enemy who has harmed none of his friends. Ulquiorra then reveals that he is the one who brought Orihime to Hueco Mundo, provoking Ichigo into drawing his Shikai and forcing the encounter into a true duel.

Key Events

Szayelaporro explains that Aaroniero's Cognition Synchronization instantly relayed the details of Rukia's fatal clash to the rest of the Arrancar, which is how the enemy already knows the outcome. A grieving Orihime, having witnessed Rukia's collapse through that shared sight, begs from her chamber to be released.

When Ulquiorra confirms that Orihime came against her will and that he deliberately made her allies believe she is a traitor, Ichigo's fury boils over. He sends Nel to safety and, unwilling to hold back, releases his Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, to face the Espada head-on.
