Ryo Kunieda

Ryo has long black hair and a small mole beneath her left eye, and she dresses in the standard Karakura school uniform.

Rarely without a book, Ryo is a devoted reader and a bright student who places second in her grade and stays out of trouble. She is also a first-year track-and-field star who has reached the nationals with her team and can cover a hundred meters in twelve seconds. Her manner tends toward the dry and unbothered, more inclined to keep reading than to fuss over classroom drama.

Ryo represented the incoming freshmen at Karakura High's entrance ceremony and quietly watched Tatsuki Arisawa test Orihime's karate on the first day of term. Across the Agent of the Soul Reaper arc she turns up among Ichigo's classmates: she wryly comments on Orihime's tall tales, backs up Michiru's account of Kon's antics in Ichigo's body so a teacher will believe it, and once chases down the runaway Kon plushie herself, boasting of her sprinting speed before Yasutora Sado joins the pursuit.

She is later among the girls who invite Rukia Kuchiki to lunch and press her about her ties to Ichigo. In the anime-only Beast Swords arc she walks home with her friends, discussing the clever new transfer student Kyoko Haida.
