Appearance

Shizuku is lean and pale, his shoulder-length black hair falling across his face to hide the right eye above a pair of lavender eyes. He goes barefoot in a tattered white kimono that leaves part of his chest exposed, cinched with a yellow belt, and his Reiatsu, like Homura's, burns black rimmed in dark purple. The scythe he carries later passes into the grip of Dark Rukia.

Personality

Detached and gloomy, Shizuku carries a deep loathing for the Shinigami, rooted in an assault by one who had been possessed by a Hollow and in the century he was then forced to spend in Hueco Mundo. He is sharp-minded and unusually attuned to what others feel; understanding his sister's longing, he is willing to fuse with Rukia and erase her forever if it means the three of them can stay together.

History

Shizuku and Homura are born with a rare gift for teleportation in Inuzuri, the 78th district of Rukongai, where Rukia Kuchiki looks after them for a while. When a Shinigami possessed by a memory-erasing, soul-stealing Hollow attacks, the siblings absorb the creature to save Rukia and are hurled into Hueco Mundo, where over roughly a hundred years they wrestle the Hollow into submission. They return at last to the Seireitei to claim the names Rukia had promised them.

Homura distracts her while Shizuku slashes her with his scythe, wiping her memory and, with it, everyone else's recollection of her. The pair try to make her recall their names, even resorting to lies to keep her loyal to them, but the ruse falls apart when Homura lets slip that Rukia was once a Shinigami. As Rukia begins to remember Ichigo, Homura's power runs berserk, and the siblings fuse with her into a twisted, Hollow-like form known as Dark Rukia. That fusion overpowers Ichigo until he finds a way to win without harming Rukia, pouring his own Shinigami power into her to pull her free and destroy the Hollow within. In his final moments Shizuku pleads with Rukia not to blame Homura too harshly, and once she names him Shizuku and reminds him that his most precious person is the sister at his side, he dies content.

His weapon, a red double-edged scythe taller than himself, began as a small, weak Hollow with a memory-erasing tail; it phases harmlessly through targets and weapons, stripping the memories of anyone it passes through, with Shizuku able to choose which memories to take. Beyond his skill with the scythe, he can teleport in bursts of black smoke, a movement distinct from Flash Step or Sonído, and he shares with Homura the self-induced Hollowfication that binds them both to Rukia.
