Wolfman Clan Elder

The elder takes the shape of an immense wolf, so large that even the towering Sajin Komamura looks small beside him. His coat is a dull white and hangs in very long fur, and an old scar runs across the crown of his head toward a left ear that is partly torn away.

A proud creature, the elder is quick to belittle Sajin when he comes home and berates him for ever having hidden what he is. He holds that the Wolfman Clan should stay out of Soul Society's struggles no matter who rules, a conviction his great-grandson cannot share, and he meets any push to involve his kind with open hostility.

Following the Wandenreich's first strike on Soul Society, Sajin Komamura returns to his great-grandfather's cave seeking the clan's hidden arts. The elder greets him with mockery, laughing at the captain who once concealed his true form now bowing to beg a favor, and rejects Sajin's argument that the world has changed enough for their kind to step out of the shadows. Insisting that nothing ever truly changes, he vows to crush his descendant, and the two come to blows.

Afterward he reveals the family secret, a technique called Humanification. He explains that the wolfmen were condemned to the Beast Realm for the sins of their lives and slipped back into Soul Society wearing beast shapes, and that they can briefly reclaim their old human forms and immense power at the cost of surrendering their own hearts. He demands Sajin tear out his heart and hand it over, warning that the captain owes the Shinigami no such sacrifice. Sajin answers that he must avenge Genryūsai Yamamoto, the man who once took him in and who fell to the Quincy, and cuts the heart from his chest.

Left alone with the heart resting in a dish, the elder reflects on his great-grandson's return to the old ways. He offers his thanks and voices his pride, recognizing in Sajin the very hunger for vengeance the captain had once scorned, and embraces it as the true nature of their clan. Certain that Sajin's human life is nearly spent and that he will soon become a mindless, vengeful beast, he drinks in that black hatred and devours the heart.
