Hisagi's Shikai! The Name is...

Once Kira finishes off Abirama Redder, Hisagi presses on against Findorr, trading parries and gauging the Arrancar as barely fifth-seat material. Delighted to be read correctly, Findorr shatters fragments of his mask one at a time, announcing a new officer rank with each break, from fourth seat up to lieutenant. As the pieces fall, his sword and speed climb with him, and he opens wounds across Hisagi's shoulder and back before pinning the lieutenant down with a Cero and a barrage of Bala.

Findorr keeps needling Hisagi over his rank, which finally goads Hisagi into reminding the Arrancar of the name he gave at the start. Vowing to cut him in two, Findorr releases his Resurrección, Pinza Aguda, and follows with Tijeras Neptunea, a jet of hyper-pressurized water that carves through buildings. Hisagi counters with a hidden arm-band explosive and Bakudō 62, Hyapporankan, pinning him briefly, but is soon swallowed inside a sphere of crushing water.

At that moment Hisagi releases Kazeshini, the blowback of Reiatsu scattering the torrent. Watching allies note it is about time his Shikai appeared. Hisagi admits he hates the weapon, its blades shaped as if to reap life itself, yet he presses the offensive, flinging the chained blades and shearing Findorr's hair and pincer. When Findorr strips ninety percent of his mask and claims captain-level strength, Hisagi pulls the chain to snap off most of his pincer and declares that those who fear their own sword do not deserve to hold it. Findorr fires one last purple Cero; Hisagi splits it and throws Kazeshini through the Arrancar's head, ending him. Moments later he senses Ikkaku's pillar collapse, realizing that fight was lost.

Findorr repeatedly breaks his mask to raise his power through the seated ranks. He releases Pinza Aguda and wields Tijeras Neptunea's pressurized-water attacks. Hisagi finally brings out his Shikai, Kazeshini, and turns the fight around, severing Findorr's pincer and killing him with a chained throw through the skull. The episode ends as the pillar guardians register Ikkaku's defeat at the hands of Choe Neng Poww.

The 219th episode belongs to the Fake Karakura Town arc and adapts material from chapters 324 through 326. Its lighter closing corner, the Substitute Shinigami Work Diary, shows Ukitake praising illustrated reports drawn by Rukia, with Ichigo baffled to learn they are bound for the Monthly Seireitei Bulletin.
