Recapture Seireitei! The Captains Move!

In his underground hall, Urahara briefs Hitsugaya, Byakuya, and Komamura on crossing the Dangai, explaining that Inaba's control over time has limits and that they have only a thirty-second window to pass unharmed. Back in Karakura Town, a weakened Ichigo returns to the Urahara Shop with Nozomi and Kon, where Kenpachi kicks him aside and flatly refuses to let him follow, insisting he would die in Soul Society. Kenpachi joins the others just in time, and the captains ride the Kōtotsu's wake into the Dangai.

Sensing them, Inaba unleashes the Kōryū current, whose speed climbs with the captains' immense Reiatsu. Komamura releases his Bankai to hold the tide back, letting the other three slip through a gap into the Seireitei while he is swallowed by the flood. The captains split up to reach the Twelfth Division as Isane fires Shakkahō at the fleeing Inaba. Elsewhere, the Reigai of Kyōraku and Ukitake press Yamamoto with Takaoni, Kageoni, and redirected flame, drawing blood from the Captain-Commander.

Kenpachi finds his own Reigai waiting in the rain, and the two revel in a savage, evenly matched duel until the double runs him through. Roused by Yachiru, Kenpachi rises and ends it with a Kendo strike that reverts the impostor to pill form. Deeper below, Unohana confronts Inaba, only for Isane to reveal herself as a Reigai. Inaba explains he harvested Reishi from every Soul Reaper who passed through his adjusted Senkaimon, and a duplicate of Unohana herself steps forward.

Urahara guides the captains through the Dangai, where Komamura sacrifices himself to the Kōryū so the others can reach Soul Society. Kenpachi overcomes his Reigai counterpart in a mutual, near-fatal duel. Yamamoto battles the Reigai of Kyōraku and Ukitake, and Unohana is betrayed by a Reigai posing as Isane, revealing Inaba built his army from harvested Reishi samples.

An anime-only episode within the Gotei 13 Invading Army storyline. A brief Illustrated Picture Book segment shows Isane torn as both the real Unohana and a Reigai Unohana argue over which side she should join. The episode aired in Japan on May 31, 2011, with the opening BLUE and the ending Aoi Tori.
