The Fullbring User·Kūgo Ginjō

Frustrated and out of options after a string of assaults on his friends, Ichigo remembers the Xcution card Kugo Ginjo handed him and makes the call, reaching a man who says he was expecting it. The next day Orihime warns Ichigo that Sado has stopped attending school, but he brushes her off and heads for the address Kugo gave. Orihime visits Sado's home, finds no answer, and leaves bread at his door despite Ryuken's earlier warning weighing on her.

That evening in Naruki City, Ichigo meets Kugo and admits he does not trust him, but reasons that a man who knows about him and Isshin is his only lead. Kugo reveals the errand he assigned was merely bait to draw Ichigo in and invites him upstairs to reclaim his Shinigami powers. Inside the lavish headquarters, Kugo demonstrates his gift by drawing the soul from his drink to swallow it, then explains that Fullbring lets its wielders pull out and empower the souls dwelling in objects, even reshaping items they are bonded to. He transforms his pendant into a massive sword to prove it.

Riruka bursts in and, once she finally notices Ichigo, is floored by his looks. Sado is revealed to be the man she fetched, shocking Ichigo further. Kugo then explains Fullbring's origin: its users were born with it because Hollows attacked their pregnant mothers, seeding the power in the womb. Because Fullbringers are the inverse of a Shinigami-powered human, they can transfer their hated abilities onto such a person, and Kugo notes there was one Substitute Shinigami before Ichigo who once aided them.

Ichigo contacts Xcution and meets Kugo Ginjo in Naruki City. Kugo demonstrates Fullbring by drawing souls from objects and manifesting his sword, Cross of Scaffold. He explains that Fullbring arises when a Hollow attacks a pregnant mother and that it can be transferred to restore Ichigo's Shinigami powers. Sado is shown to have joined Xcution.

The episode adapts chapters 431 through 433 within the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc. Its Xcution Dictionary segment has Riruka introduce the group's members, Giriko, Jackie, and Yukio, complaining about each until Ginjo cuts in to call her a woman who cannot voice her honest feelings.
