Summary

Cornered in a parking lot, Ryō Utagawa uses his Doll Fried to conjure snakes and takes an unconscious woman hostage. Refusing to endanger her, Uryū Ishida offers himself in exchange, only to be slammed head-first into the concrete as Utagawa gloats about savoring his Soul. Before the Bount can feed, Yoshino Sōma intervenes with her fire-wielding Doll Goethe, snatches Uryū away, and escapes. Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends beat back the remaining snakes, aided by the arriving Renji, Tessai, Jinta, and Ururu, but Utagawa slips off and Yoshino's Reiatsu disappears with Uryū.

In the Seireitei, Captain Shunsui Kyōraku visits Mayuri Kurotsuchi seeking data on the Bount, noting the library records have vanished. Mayuri refuses and insists on official channels, so Shunsui provokes him into trying to delete the data himself, only for Mayuri to find it locked behind a password he never set, hinting someone else is hiding the truth. Shunsui, having watched from the doorway, walks off sensing the matter is more tangled than expected.

Uryū wakes bandaged in an abandoned house, where Yoshino, sensing his lost Quincy powers, is startled to learn he is the last Quincy. Later, recovering in Karakura Hospital, he relays her warning to his friends: the Bount are forbidden from devouring living Humans because doing so grants power to affect space, and one of them, Jin Kariya, intends to break that rule to reach Soul Society. Urahara adds his own grim finding, that a substance in the Bount could open a tunnel joining the Human World to Hueco Mundo, flooding it with Hollows, and puts the odds of that scenario at fifty percent. Resolving to guard Uryū, the group learns Kariya has already set his own precautions in motion.
