Function
An Arrancar of ordinary strength cannot break free of the space the cube creates, which is why an Espada relies on it to discipline a Fracción when a situation seems to demand it. It was never designed for use between Espada; because they far outclass a common Arrancar, an Espada trapped this way can eventually force a way out rather than being held for good.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez turns the device on Ulquiorra Cifer to stop him from interfering in his planned duel with Ichigo Kurosaki, noting that Ulquiorra's enormous Reiatsu would let him escape within two or three hours.
