Masterly! And Farewell! [Reprise]

His hand ruined, Jirobo makes a last grab for Orihime, but Uryu flashes between them and accuses him of hunting her from the very start, condemning it as the conduct of a man without honor. He fires twice into the officer's chest, then explains to Orihime that Jirobo will live yet has lost his spiritual powers forever, his Saketsu and Hakusui destroyed, likely never to serve as a soul reaper again.

As they leave, Orihime pieces together that Uryu's glove amplifies his gathering of spirit particles and that he drilled alone to spare his friends from harm, and she quietly wonders what she herself gained across their ten days of training, feeling no stronger at all. Elsewhere Ganju flees a mob of soldiers jeering at his looks, only to spot Ichigo bursting from a side street with his own pursuers in tow.

The two crash together, trading kicks and punches before Ichigo draws Zangetsu, tells Ganju to duck, and scatters the nearest soldiers, drawing complaints that he swings without warning. With the remaining troops unwilling to retreat, the Fourth Division's Hanataro Yamada wanders in, trips over a tile, and falls beaten into the middle of the brawl. As Ganju and Ichigo each hit on the same idea, the frightened medic nervously introduces himself. The chapter was adapted in episode 29, Breakthrough! The Shinigami's Encompassing Net.
