The twenty-ninth Bleach episode sees Uryū Ishida finish his duel with Jirōbō Ikkanzaka, while Ichigo Kurosaki and Ganju Shiba stumble into Hanatarō Yamada, a Fourth Division healer who knows Rukia. Kenpachi Zaraki, hungry for a fight, hunts for Ichigo.
Having crippled Jirōbō's projectile power, Uryū shows a moment of mercy, only for the Shinigami to lunge at Orihime the instant he is spared. Uryū cuts him off, exposes his cowardice, and finishes him by destroying his Saketsu and Hakusui so he can never wield Shinigami power again. As they leave, a wobbling Orihime, buoyed by the memory of Tatsuki's encouragement, vows to give her own effort everything she has.
Across the Seireitei, Ganju flees a mob of Eleventh Division Shinigami and collides with Ichigo, who is being chased by a crowd of his own. The pair fight back to back, then seize the hapless Hanatarō Yamada as a hostage, unaware that the Eleventh Division openly despises his Fourth Division and cheerfully invites them to kill him. A sudden blast clears half the mob, courtesy of Sado, who arrives to hold off the rest with his Fullbring.
Meanwhile, Mayuri Kurotsuchi interrogates the wounded Ikkaku until Kenpachi intervenes, then coaxes from Ikkaku a description of the orange-haired Ryoka heading for Senzaikyū. Delighted at the prospect of a strong opponent, Kenpachi resumes his search with Yachiru. Hiding in a storeroom, Hanatarō reveals that he knows Rukia, is aware she is held in the white tower, and can guide them there by a secret route.
Uryū defeats Jirōbō Ikkanzaka and permanently strips his spiritual powers. Ichigo and Ganju take Hanatarō Yamada hostage, only to learn the Eleventh Division would gladly see him killed. Sado arrives and confronts the remaining Shinigami. Ikkaku describes Ichigo to Kenpachi, who eagerly hunts for him. Hanatarō reveals he knows Rukia and a hidden path into Senzaikyū.
Adapting Chapters 92 and 93 in the Soul Society: The Sneak Entry arc, the episode concludes Uryū's fight with Jirōbō. Powers shown include the Quincy Heilig Pfeil and Hirenkyaku, Ichigo's Zangetsu, and Sado's Brazo Derecha de Gigante. The anime expands numerous comedic exchanges, including the divisions' rivalry and Ganju's hand-drawn map, and a preview has Kon beg for more screen time.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
