Certain the motionless Kenpachi Zaraki has died, Nnoitra Gilga sets his sights on Ichigo Kurosaki, Orihime Inoue, and Yachiru Kusajishi. Orihime rushes to shield the lieutenant, and when Ichigo reaches for her he is thrown back by the barrier of her Soten Kisshun, startled that her Shun Shun Rikka can repel him. As Nnoitra moves to smash her Santen Kesshun, Yachiru simply tells him to look behind, where a monstrous skull-shaped Reiatsu has gathered.
