A flashback opens on a middle-school Aiku pinning the ball between two markers. Once praised for his powerful frame, he was slotted in as the team's anchor so others could push forward, and every adult around him preached playing for the team and for others. When he told a coach he dreamed of becoming the world's best striker and wanted to chase his own goals, he was flatly refused and warned that defying the rules would cost him his place on the pitch. He reluctantly gave in. Over time he realized coaches only nurtured the players they approved of, deciding when and whether anyone was allowed to grow, until everyone, himself included, had been molded into the same mold.

Years later, after his header sets up a title-winning goal and his teammates crown themselves the strongest with him behind them, Aiku confesses to his coach that the sport has stopped being fun. The coach counters that he is a decorated forward with a professional future, but Aiku cannot stomach a life that only amounts to modest wealth and a comfortable marriage. He asks whether he could ever be the world's finest striker, and though the coach affirms his potential, Aiku no longer believes it, sensing that ambition died in him long ago.

Refusing to blame the adults entirely, Aiku accepts his own failure to hold onto his dream and resolves to bury the philosophy that forced him to play for others. He tells his stunned coach he will instead become the greatest defender alive and crush the assembly line of hollow strikers. Later headlines chronicle his acclaimed switch from forward to defender, a professional offer from an Italian club, and his rise to captain of Japan's U-20 side. He swears he will bloom only for himself from now on, yet promises that should a genuine striker ever struggle to flourish in Japan, he will do everything he can to help them grow untainted, extending his hand so they can bloom.

Returning to the match, Aiku's clearance sails over Nagi, and he decides Blue Lock's players are the true strikers he has awaited. Isagi calls for the second ball, Rin chests it down to take possession, and Aiku, riding maximum voltage, finds his perception of every position and possible move sharpened to a staggering degree. When Rin nutmegs Sendo, Aiku clamps onto him and warns the same shot will not fool him twice, reasoning he must deny Rin his range rather than his shot. He resents how Isagi and Rin move only for themselves yet function as a peerless pair, and imagines that in a timeline where Blue Lock began three years earlier he might have stood among them. Sensing Aiku has entered Flow, Isagi notes Rin cannot begin his shooting pattern. As Rin feints to break past, Aiku reads it, drives a heavy shoulder into him, halts him cold, and knocks the ball loose, vowing to serve as the final wall for Japanese football's rebirth. The clearance climbs toward midfield, where Sae, calling him a selfish captain, collects it and declares the endgame near as Aiku tells him to go.

The chapter reveals Aiku's history and guiding philosophy. Watching Blue Lock perform at their peak triggers his own Flow State, granting an entirely new read of the field and its players. Rin wins possession, but Aiku marks him, blocks his advance, and strips the ball, with Sae taking control by the chapter's close.
