The 136th chapter of Blue Lock follows Isagi's counterattack against Japan U-20. Using his spatial awareness and a rough pass to Nagi, he engineers a perfect chance, only for Sae to appear from his blind spot to spoil it.
Spurred by Reo's long-range delivery and save, Nagi gathers the ball and the attack surges forward. Isagi recognizes this as the moment to swing the game, even though only four of them, himself, Nagi, Baro, and Rin, press against five U-20 defenders. The counter has already unbalanced the opposition and torn gaps in their shape, precisely the conditions where his spatial sense thrives, so he sets out to find the single spot where he alone can steal a goal. Baro shadows him from behind, and Isagi, assuming he is trying to poach the pass, wonders what he is doing. Darai tracks Baro to sever his link with Isagi, having grasped that Baro simply trails him, and refuses to be fooled twice. Boxed in by Aiku as well, Baro judges any pass to him worthless and peels away, resolving to seek the darkness on the field while Isagi generates the light, a darkness he believes will carry him into Flow State.
As Blue Lock trades passes toward goal, Isagi lays the ball off to Rin, aware it is not yet the right instant or place to shoot. He identifies the three requirements he needs to score: a position suited to his Direct Shot, a teammate to supply the ball, and defenders unable to read him. With the goal looming and no time to overthink, he hunts for the opening thread of the match. Karasu surges up from midfield to add another option, receiving Rin's pass and instantly picking out the lane to Isagi. Rather than take it cleanly, Isagi scoops a deliberately rough ball over the defenders' heads toward the one player who can tame it, Nagi. Nagi traps it between Neru and Nio, grumbling that Isagi is exploiting him, and realizes the plan is to draw every defender's focus onto himself.
In that window Isagi slips into the defenders' blind spots and darts past them and Nagi, who flicks a backward jumping pass into the open space where Isagi waits. Every condition is satisfied and even Aiku cannot get to him, but just as the ball descends, Sae materializes from behind, remarking that Isagi is the clever heart of Blue Lock. Isagi is stunned, having never registered Sae, who took the shortest route to the pitch's most vital point to wreck the play. Though his finest chance is being erased in an instant, Isagi casts off his hesitation and readies himself to receive under pressure, while Sae senses the play is far from finished.
Isagi slices apart the Japan U-20 back line with his spatial awareness and sets up a scoring chance, only for Sae to arrive and pressure him. Sae calls Isagi the beating core of Blue Lock, and Isagi, still determined, prepares to shoot even while being marked.
Blue Lock Chapter 136, "Culmination," follows Isagi's counterattack against Japan U-20, as he uses his spatial awareness and a rough pass to Nagi to engineer a perfect scoring chance, only for Sae to appear from his blind spot and spoil it.
Isagi identifies three requirements for scoring: a position suited to his Direct Shot, a teammate able to supply the ball, and defenders unable to read his movement.
Isagi sets up his scoring chance by scooping a deliberately rough pass over the defenders to Nagi, who traps it and draws every defender's focus, creating an opening for Isagi to slip into their blind spots and receive Nagi's backward jumping pass.
Sae spoils Isagi's chance by materializing from behind him at the last moment, arriving at the pitch's most vital point just as the ball descends, catching Isagi completely off guard.
Sae calls Isagi the "clever heart" of Blue Lock as he arrives to disrupt his scoring chance.
