Summary

With Nagi teetering on the edge of despair, Hirotoshi Buratsuta senses his desperation and dangles a way back into Blue Lock: a place among his own "special three." The U-20 World Cup squad can carry between twenty-three and twenty-six players, and Buratsuta has struck a bargain with Ego, agreeing to lend his clout to promote Blue Lock TV in return for control over those final roster slots. To claim one, Nagi would have to clear a private selection of Buratsuta's design and surrender every major career decision, contracts included, to the chairman's authority. The whole scheme is aimed at discrediting Ego, letting the opportunistic Buratsuta seize the reins of the program.

Nagi turns the offer down, unwilling to betray the very system that lit his competitive fire, since it was Ego who first made the game feel meaningful and fun to him. Frustrated, the chairman asks whether such talent is simply meant to rot. A call then comes in from Sae Itoshi with the Group A draw for the U-20 World Cup: Nigeria, England, Japan, and France. Buratsuta is rattled to see France, a formidable and dangerous side, in Japan's group. He assures Sae that no special selection is required for his inclusion, but Sae sets his own terms, saying he will suit up only to face Spain and Bunny Iglesias, and that if Japan falls before then, he has no interest in the rest of the tournament.
