Chapter 56

Sharing a triple room, Isagi tries to broker peace while Nagi and Baro trade jabs. They squabble over a bed, Baro seizing the bunk on the excuse that it is cramped and noisy, and when Nagi proposes settling it with rock, paper, scissors, Baro declares himself the law. A pillow fight erupts after Nagi mocks him as a fallen king, yet Baro then tidies the entire room and lectures the two about airing it out and not leaving dirty clothes or towels lying around. Nagi teases that he behaves more like a servant, dubbing him Maid Baro. Isagi reflects that Baro's habit of living by his own rules is exactly what powers his ego, and he decides he wants to understand the man better.

Later, in the training room governed by the Blue Lock Man system, Isagi and Nagi work out while observing Baro grind through a long, punishing routine. Baro promises to join them once he finishes in forty minutes. Recognizing that this severe discipline and self-control fortify Baro's game, Isagi throws himself in, and when Baro doubts he can hang, Isagi replies that he will not know until he tries. Nagi eventually piles in as well, and Isagi trains on, convinced that toppling the top three will demand sparking chemical reactions among them.

Nagi, Isagi, and Baro settle into a shared room and clash over living arrangements before training together. Isagi resolves to understand Baro and to build chemistry strong enough to beat the selection's top players.

Titled Proof I've Wagered My Life (Jinsei o Kaketa Shōmei), this is the 56th chapter overall and the seventh of Volume 7 within the Second Selection Arc. Its events span Episodes 15 and 16 of the anime.
