Summary

Entering the second stage, Kunigami and Reo run into Shido, who is lashing out after losing his previous match and hurting other players in the process. When he moves to injure his own partner, Igarashi, Kunigami intervenes to shield him. Shido sneers, asking whether Kunigami fancies himself a knight in shining armor, but Kunigami answers that he despises violence and came only to play football. Mocking what he calls Kunigami's dated, idealistic devotion to sportsmanship, Shido nonetheless challenges him to a match.

Kunigami checks with Reo about facing Shido, given that Shido stood out as a leading scorer on another wing during the first selection, yet Reo rates their chances well since Igarashi is paired with him. As Kunigami squares off against Shido, Reo takes on Igarashi and discovers he is more dangerous than anticipated, showing a knack for baiting opponents into fouling him.
