Personality

Warm and gentle with Asa, she embraces her daughter's shortcomings and offers comfort in low moments, and her selflessness extends to giving her own life to push the girl clear of danger. Asa returns that love, treasuring her mother's uniform as a keepsake. A fiercer current ran underneath, though: she would do anything for her daughter, even bloodying her hands by murdering her husband to claim insurance money for Asa's education, a deed sharpened by vindictive resentment over his cheating and his refusal to provide.

History

Years before the main story, a rampaging Typhoon Devil tore through the home she shared with Asa and her husband. When Asa tripped while trying to rescue a cat, her mother thrust her out of the path of the destruction and was killed absorbing it herself. A later dreamscape in the War Devil arc fills in an earlier episode: after a devil maimed her husband by ripping off his leg, she finished him with a stone and staged it as the devil's doing, then confessed to Asa that a death by devil would bring a far larger insurance sum than a simple injury, enough to fund her daughter's high school years, with his infidelity lending her added motive.
