Galgali

The fiend inhabits the body of a rather slight man, wrapped in a hooded suit, his face hidden behind a plague-doctor style gas mask. That mask runs vivid in the colored manga, splashed with parrot-like greens, reds, and oranges, while the anime tones it down toward grey, beige, and a touch of yellow. Stripped of the mask, his shape changes dramatically: he grows much taller and heavily muscled, sprouts spiky black hair, and reveals four hollow eyes.

For all the menace his title implies, Galgali behaves with disarming courtesy and candor. He apologizes to Beam after striking him by reflex and urges Princi to clear out when he mistakes her for an ordinary woman. He chalks this up to holding on to so much of his host's brain, a rare thing among fiends, and declares with some irony that what he truly values is love and peace. Unable to eat behind his mask, he takes his pleasure secondhand, buying food for others and savoring their reactions to it.

Whatever befell his human host is unclear, and the only memory he holds is that Makima once saved him, a recollection that may itself be her handiwork. Serving with Special Division 4, he joins the assault on the terrorists under Akane Sawatari, tearing through zombies while mistaking Beam for one of them and warning the Spider Devil off as though she were a passerby. When Reze storms Division 2, Galgali answers Aki Hayakawa's call for help; his hardest kick only fractures the ground at her feet without harming her, and he pulls back once he sees how outmatched they are. He returns to drag Aki clear of a missile blast and stands ready to take her on, until the arrival of the Typhoon Devil pushes the fight beyond him.

His real power stays leashed by the poison-leaking mask that holds his fiend strength in check; freed of it he can swell a limb with muscle and fight with overwhelming force, all channeled through bare-handed combat. Later he patrols with Kobeni Higashiyama, downs a devil the two can only guess to name, and treats her to ice cream while sharing what little he recalls of his past. When everyone is dragged down into hell during the fight against Santa Claus's dolls, Galgali asks Kobeni to remove his mask so he can reach full strength, throws himself at the Darkness Devil, and is killed.
