Publicly the Chainsaw Man Church hails Chainsaw Man as the savior destined to hold back a coming age of devils. In secret, its founders mean to feed their own believers to slaughter, stoking the public terror needed to make Chainsaw Man and War strong enough to kill the Death Devil.
Four figures stood behind this cult-like venture: Haruka Iseumi served as its smiling public face, Barem Bridge signed recruits into pacts with the Fire Devil, a nameless elder filled out the leadership, and the Death Devil, hiding as 'Fami,' directed everything. Formally the movement went by the Chainsaw Man Church, its full title tacking on the words 'for World Peace.' To the rank and file it vowed to stand beside Chainsaw Man and head off the Age of Devils foretold by Nostradamus, promising a world cleansed of evil. The real design was monstrous: sacrifice the faithful in bulk so that fear would swell Chainsaw Man and War into weapons capable of slaying the Death Devil. Many Weapon Hybrids held senior posts yet served their own ends. Asa Mitaka signed on after being told Chainsaw Man could be split from his devil heart, letting Yoru destroy the Chainsaw Devil while Asa kept the version of him she loved. The group drew tens of thousands of mostly teenage followers, leaned on anti-American conspiracy theories, took donations from citizens and politicians alike, and ran out of a repurposed cult building notorious for arranged marriages.
The Church burst into public view after the Falling Devil's rampage, when Haruka began promoting it on television and parading a counterfeit Chainsaw Man as supposed proof of partnership. Fami personally called on Asa and Yoru, confiding the private aim of keeping Chainsaw Man too weak to draw devils after him. Asa shot to fame as the Church's premier hunter, sparking rumors that her exploits were really Chainsaw Man's glory stolen from him. Miri Sugo coaxed a reluctant Denji to the headquarters, where Barem rattled him with talk of murdering Asa to lure Chainsaw Man back, prompting Denji to flee and write them all off as lunatics. The Weapons later staged a massacre meant to bait Denji into transforming, only to be cut off by Quanxi and a Public Safety raid. After his capture, Barem laid bare the true plan as the Fire Devil pacts triggered, twisting followers into mindless Pseudo-Chainsaw People and setting off open war in the streets. Barem then torched Denji and Nayuta's home, and following a savage retaliation Nayuta gave up her life to save Denji. In the arcs that followed, the leaders were jailed, Denji was broken into surrendering to Pochita, and the wider conflict spiraled toward the Death Devil's descent and the final reckoning with Yoru.
The founding council paired Haruka Iseumi and Barem Bridge with a nameless elder and the Death Devil in her Fami guise; of them only Haruka lived, ending up under arrest. Standout figures included Asa Mitaka, Yoru acting through her, the Fire Devil, and the Fake Chainsaw Man. Within the Weapons faction sat the Spear Hybrid, the Whip Hybrid, Miri Sugo, and Barem. The Death Devil further fielded a roster of pawns: the Guillotine Devil, the Famine Devil, the Falling Devil, the Fire Devil, and the Fake Chainsaw Man. Rank-and-file members such as Seigi Akoku and Nobana Higashiyama, both later arrested, were never converted into copies, a hint that Fami spared certain old Devil Hunter Club friends.
