Summary

Asa trails reluctantly behind Yoshida and a bespectacled classmate as their group patrols the school for devils. The girl introduces herself as Yuko, an open admirer of Chainsaw Man, and Asa masks her own discomfort with a half-hearted claim of fandom. The outing only sharpens her isolation when a trio of classmates passes by, snickering and sniping that she has some nerve hunting for a boyfriend after whatever she did.

Desperate to escape, Asa heads for the exit and discovers her locker crammed with raw chicken, her shoes ruined beneath the mess. She resolves to walk home barefoot despite the War Devil's warning that her feet will suffer. Yuko chases after her with a single shoe in hand, insisting they share, and when Asa rebuffs the gesture, Yuko turns it into a game, making her run through town to give the shoe back.

The pursuit ends at Yuko's home, where Asa once again declines an invitation inside. Undeterred, Yuko finally hands over both shoes and sends her off, leaving Asa to trudge home alone with the War Devil nagging at her the whole way.

Key Events

The chapter centers Asa Mitaka's alienation at school and introduces Yuko as a stubbornly kind classmate who pushes past Asa's defenses. The ruined-shoe humiliation and Yuko's barefoot pursuit establish their budding friendship, while the War Devil's running commentary keeps Asa's uneasy partnership with the devil in view. It is a quiet, character-focused entry within the Justice Devil arc.
