Chapter 104

Screaming into a pillow and hammering her fists, Yoru seethes that Chainsaw Man rescued her and Asa. Pressed by Asa on the reason for her loathing, she recounts an old battle in which Chainsaw Man, fighting beside the other Four Horsemen, devoured part of her and left her diminished. That wound, she explains, is part of why no great war has flared since The World War, the lull also owing to Chainsaw Man having eaten two devils: the World War II Devil along with the Nuclear Weapons Devil. Yoru's deeper worry surfaces next, that once war becomes nothing but a media topic people will forget it and she will vanish; by the time Asa asks whether that scares her, the devil is already asleep.

Denji, meanwhile, is being paid to act as a girl's chair until Yoshida draws him away and hands back the student ID he had taken, swearing to keep Chainsaw Man's identity hidden. When Denji edges off, Yoshida buys his cooperation with a far larger sum, then deduces that Denji wants exposure only to land a girlfriend. The two strike a bargain: stay secret, and Yoshida will match him with someone. Denji names his type as a girl desperate for a boyfriend, and Yoshida instantly pictures a perfect candidate.

He walks Denji and Asa outside, framing her as a Chainsaw Man survivor and Denji as a superfan. Asa runs through her grievances against the hero, several echoing the prior chapter, while Denji disputes each with rising exasperation until he bursts out that he grasps Chainsaw Man so completely because the two are one and the same. Utterly unconvinced, she brands Denji a loser and walks off, prompting Yoshida to note that flaunting the truth so openly guarantees nobody believes him.

Yoru hands over major backstory: Chainsaw Man tore into her during a Four Horsemen battle, and his appetite for certain devils has kept large wars at bay, all while she dreads slipping out of human memory. Yoshida's matchmaking also sets up the first genuine encounter between Denji and Asa, which peaks as Denji owns up to his identity and gets written off as a liar.

Titled Netabare, meaning 'Spoiler,' this installment launches the thirteenth volume inside the Justice Devil arc. It blends dense Yoru and Four Horsemen exposition with a comic first run-in between Denji and Asa, memorably letting Denji admit his secret only to be shrugged off as a liar.
