Key Events

Reforming her body, Yoru reveals a pact she struck with the Governor of California, echoing the deals Makima once made with world powers: she will spare the state, and in return its residents absorb every wound she suffers. Boasting that roughly thirty two million people live there, she calls up the Accident Devil and shapes a chainsaw whip from spinning wheels to tear into Pochita. She chases after him gleefully as he is hurled through building after building, only to be stunned when the Chainsaw Devil slices her in two. Spending still more lives, she knits herself back together and lops his head off with the whip.

Notes

As Denji finally closes the distance to Asa, the figure she has been pursuing all along is revealed to be her mother, the woman who gave her own life to save her. The chapter's trivia points out that Yoru's arrangement with the Californian governor mirrors Makima's deal with the Japanese Prime Minister, both redirecting lethal harm onto the citizens of the leader's nation.
