Elektra Ovirowa

Ovirowa carries the lean, conditioned build of a career soldier, a physique her military training accounts for. Her complexion is a light tan and her heritage reads as Hispanic, framed by dark eyes and brown hair. For clothing she favors a cropped red jacket thrown over a black tank top, the top tucked into her trousers and finished with pale shoes. The animators drew visual cues from actress Gina Gershon when designing her.

Duty and love pull Ovirowa in opposite directions for much of her arc. She is disciplined enough to serve a corrupt superior and gather intelligence on the streets, yet loyal enough to abandon protocol the instant Vincent surfaces. Her resolve holds steady under fire, and even when the truth of her own immunity stuns her, she keeps working the problem. Underneath the soldier's composure sits a woman who never stopped grieving the man the war took from her.

Ovirowa signs on with the Mars Army and crosses paths with Vincent Volaju during the Titan War, and the two fall into a relationship. The experiment performed on Vincent strips away his sanity and his memories, her included, though he quietly doses her with the same vaccine that protects him. By 2071 she answers to a Colonel tied to Cherious Medical, and after Vincent's nano-machine strike on an Alba City highway, the Colonel orders every trace of the technology erased, Vincent and the scientist Mendelo al-Hedia among the targets. Torn, she moves carefully. A hunt for al-Hedia on Moroccan Street turns up nothing but a suspicious stranger, Spike Spiegel, whom she clocks and later catches posing as a janitor. He slips away and plants a bug in her jacket.

When her people spot Vincent bound for the train station, Ovirowa ignores orders and chases him down, boarding the same train just in time to find him locked in a standoff with Spike. She takes a bullet to the arm and a whiff of Vincent's released virus, then reels at the realization that she is immune, asking a technician named Steve to confirm it. Her surveilled communications betray her, and the Colonel has her jailed in a cell beside Spike's. The pair engineer an escape, pressuring Harris into opening the door, and Steve guides them to her stored blood and out of the facility. Allied with the Bebop crew, she helps counter Vincent's plan to seed the nano-machines through exploding parade floats over Alba City, flying with Jet to round up pilots so her blood can be reworked into a vaccine and misted across the city. Costumed as a witch in the crowd, she traces flickering lights to a tower and finds Vincent poised to kill Spike. Guns leveled at each other, she fires while he falters, and with his last breath he tells her he remembers her and their love, leaving her in tears.
