Katerina Solensan

Katerina is a curvy young woman with a light-to-medium complexion and striking violet eyes. Her brown hair falls in waves gathered up with blue ribbons, and angular earrings hang at her ears. Across her scenes she wears a purple dress cut to suggest a pregnant figure, a look the animators modeled on Salma Hayek's role in the film Desperado.

More than anything, Katerina longs to escape Tijuana for a comfortable life on Mars, a goal she understands demands real money. She is no bystander in her husband's trade, handling a firearm well enough to gun down a pursuer during a shootout. Beneath the ambition runs a conscience, and when the scheme spirals into carnage she chooses to end it rather than let it spread.

When Asimov broke from his syndicate and made off with a supply of Red Eye, Katerina concealed the vials beneath her dress so she would read as expecting, and the two set out to sell the drug together. One deal at the El Ray Bar erupted into gunfire when Asimov's old associates tracked them down; she killed one of them while Asimov used the Red Eye to cut through the rest.

At a gas station she struck up a friendly chat with Spike Spiegel while Asimov stepped away, warming to him until he admitted he was a bounty hunter after her husband, at which point she pulled back. Their next buyer turned out to be Spike himself, and with the syndicate still on their trail another firefight broke out. Her dress tore in the chaos, spilling some of the vials.

Overdosing on his own product, Asimov lost his grip on reality and drove toward a police barricade at the Astral Gate. Realizing her dream had come to nothing and unwilling to watch more destruction unfold, Katerina shot Asimov before he could reach the line. She was killed moments later when police fire tore into their ship.
