Appearance
Onyx is a chiefly brown horse marked by a black mane and a white blaze running down her nose. Aboard Andy's ship she enjoys an unusually plush stall set right in the main living quarters, and she seems every bit as at ease moving through human buildings as she is out in the open.
Personality
Onyx stands well above the ordinary horse in cleverness and self-reliance. Andy goes so far as to boast that she can put together a respectable game of chess, a sign of just how unusually bright his companion is.

History
Her intelligence shows plainly in how she works elevators with no human hand to guide her, once riding one all the way to the top of City Hall to collect Andy after his showdown with Spike Spiegel. Later, when Andy sheds his cowboy image for that of a samurai, he rechristens the horse as well, giving Onyx the name Jiroumaru to match his new identity.
