History

Zebra spent years in the Squad alongside Giraffe. In 2061 the two slipped into a hidden research facility to take it back, but shortly afterward Zebra was seized by Wen, who kept him paralyzed and paraded him as an invalid father to sell a false identity. That imprisonment stretched across ten years. In 2071, Giraffe tracked Wen to a high-rise hotel, and Zebra could only watch as Wen gunned his old friend down and sent him tumbling out a window.

Because Giraffe carried a bounty, Spike Spiegel had been trailing him. Wen cornered and interrogated Spike, warning him off, with the motionless Zebra at his side. When Spike refused to back down, the ensuing shoot-out saw Zebra shoved down a staircase to buy Wen an escape. The crew brought him aboard the Bebop and realized he was conscious after he shed a tear. Jet Black applied the Alfa Catch to read Zebra's memories, drawing out the real story of Giraffe's death and his true purpose.
