Daiki's Father

His dark hair is swept into a part on the left side, with the back and sides cropped close, a style that recalls the disguises favored by the Serpo. While flying, he dresses in a black pilot's suit and a cap stamped with an insignia.

He and his wife both doted on Daiki, and that overflowing affection backfired. Their son came to believe he stood above the other children, bragging about his dad's respected work flying planes and insisting he would inherit the career, having already been drilled on home flight simulators.

Searching for a birthday gift for his fourth-grade son, the pilot wandered into an antique store kept by a friend and fell instantly for an ancient diorama, feeling strangely as though the box was beckoning to him. Once Daiki was swallowed by the trunk, the object somehow resurfaced at the Renjaku Apartments a full four years later.

Vega and his son Unji traced the family's address and returned the now middle-aged-looking Daiki to his parents, but with merely four years gone the father took it for a cruel hoax. Insulted, the couple sealed themselves back inside their apartment, unwittingly turning their own child away. Only after the priests of Shimane undid the curse did Vega and the police escort the restored boy home, where the televised reunion left the whole family weeping as they wrapped their arms around him.
