Personality

Grave and rigidly devoted to upholding the law as an officer, Vega greeted Momo and Okarun with deep suspicion when they brought Turbo Granny in as lost property, all the more because Okarun had earlier reclaimed a kintama, so he inspected the maneki-neko cat for hidden cameras. The murder of his family left him viewing the world as rotten and decaying, yet he refuses despair, certain that looking away lets evil flourish, and he shoulders his burden with stubborn duty. Under the harshness, the devotion of his late daughter, who saw him as a champion of justice, still guides him, and he clings to kindness despite the world's cruelty. He proved it by taking Unji in as ward even after arresting him and weathering his attacks, and by plunging into a river on the spot to rescue a sinking child.

History

Vega entered the force near the period when he wed and fathered a daughter. A stranger driven by hatred of society murdered both his wife and daughter, and though Vega tracked the man down, the image of his daughter kept staying his hand from revenge. He arrested the gang leader Unji Zuma, then chose to become his guardian once Unji left juvenile detention, enduring the youth's umbrella swipes as payback. While visiting where Unji's brother died, Vega spotted a boy going under in the river and dove in; Unji, newly granted Umbrella Boy's power, pulled them both out. Later Vega tangles with the Fairy-Tale Card inside the Danmara trunk, fights beside Okarun and Rokuro to ground the possessed Unji, and is stunned to find the boy he long searched for beneath the mask. After escaping the trunk, he revives a near-dead Unji and vows they will go home together.
