Abilities

The full nature of Kettetsu's spiritual power has never been spelled out. What is known comes from the agent who received it through a kozuka knife holding the yokai's essence: the power appears to express itself as an iron physique that grows tougher the more it is struck.

History

Kettetsu's name traces to a mythical beast cited in the Shenyi Jing, the Book of Gods and Strange Things, described as resembling a water buffalo with jet-dark fur that fed on iron and drank water, with people said to forge steel-hard weapons from its dung. Within the series its form, channeled through the Power User, is depicted in the Kozuka Knives Arc. Its profile in Volume 21 hints at inspiration from the Chicago Bulls, noting that its briefs were made by a Chicago undergarment company. A drawing error in Chapter 178 gave the Power User's Kettetsu form human feet, a slip that went uncorrected in the volume release.
