Vega's Wife

Vega's wife is the unnamed woman married to officer Masamichi Vega and a resident of Kamigoe City. She appears only in the tragedy that defines her husband's grief.

While escorting her daughter on the way to preschool, Vega's wife and her child were both stabbed to death by a man who said he had acted out of resentment toward society.

The killing of Vega's wife, together with her daughter's, becomes the wound that haunts Masamichi Vega for the rest of the story. It nearly drives him to murder and suicide.
