Asura (Sword)

Asura takes the form of a classic Japanese katana sheathed in a dark scabbard. A slim cord winds around the sheath, and a kogai sits fitted through the tsuba. Seiko relays its legend, which credits the blade with enough power to cut down any swordsman no matter their skill. Beyond that fearsome reputation, the weapon carries a curse and a rare supernatural trait.

The katana's defining power is the ability to pull energy out of yokai and hoard it. Saint-Germain exploited this by manufacturing kozuka knives and kogai from the sword's essence, spreading its draining property across a whole arsenal of smaller tools built to gather the strength of many yokai at once. The blade also bears a curse infamous for driving its owners toward destruction.

Across its history the sword grew notorious for corrupting whoever carried it, which led a circle of magi to lock it away. About five years before the present, someone made off with the sealed weapon, and it found its way into Saint-Germain's hands. He paired it with the knives and kogai struck from its material, fashioning a toolkit meant to steal and stockpile yokai power.
