Appearance

Considered strikingly handsome by the women around him, Saint-Germain has medium lavender hair with bangs across his brow and pale blue eyes rendered in the style Tatsu reserves for his female cast. Green key-shaped studs pierce his ears. His outfit centers on a dark coat with ornamental lapels, shoulder plates, and a raised collar pinned with inverted triangles each holding a single eye, worn over an ascot, a hussar-style vest, gloves, sashed trousers, and thigh-high boots, with a katana riding his left hip. In his Sanjome guise he trades all this for glasses and a formal suit.

Personality

Saint-Germain pairs a stoic front with an eccentric way of speaking and an endless hunger to understand the world's mysteries, chasing UFOs, cursed relics, stolen yokai abilities, and above all Dandadan. Convinced a single human lifespan is too short for the work, he prefers to operate through a group, which is why he embedded himself at Kami High as the club advisor. He can be brusque and authoritative there, snapping at Momo over clubroom chores, yet he shows flashes of courtesy, such as giving up a train seat to an elderly passenger.

Beneath the manners his methods turn ruthless. He sent Unji Zuma to destroy Danmara while concealing the bargain he had struck with the demon inside it, and he plotted with Red Baron to endanger the Ayase circle and harvest their powers. When force kept failing, he shifted toward befriending the Family instead. His patience has limits, and he eventually discards any respect for Red Baron, mocking him as a mere imitator and announcing the man's own power will be handed to Vlad next.

History

Saint-Germain surrounds himself with a strange presence that scrambles the memories of anyone meeting him for the first time, leaving them in a fog of confusion. Slipping into Takeshi Murakami's faculty seat as Sanjome, he convinced the staff he had taught there for years, and even Unji later struggled to recall his face. Whether this stems from a true supernatural power is unconfirmed, but it shields his identity, appears to spread to his accomplices, and notably fails on a few people like Momo, who kept questioning him even after losing her own memories.

His arsenal matches his ambitions. An extrasensory sixth sense lets him read and redirect attacks while blinded, and he moves with such speed that he can scatter mind-controlled students just by rushing past. A keen, curiosity-fed intellect makes him deeply observant, while his mastery of Iaido, his forging of the Asura sword's kozuka knives and kogai, and his ability to build alien exosuits round out his skills, alongside teaching and baking. Years before the story he stole the power-draining Asura blade, took on servants like Red Baron and the shapeshifter Shinobi, and accepted Vlad's request to help him become the ultimate yokai.

During the Kintama Hunt Saga he freed the Fairy-Tale Card through Unji, then defeated and drained it with the help of Okarun, Rokuro, and Vega, recognizing he could only beat it by destroying every card at once. In the Ultimate Yokai Saga he transfers that power to Vlad and works with Red Baron to collect the six abilities needed, lending out his knives, enhancing Koki Yukishiro's talent, and overseeing Shinobi's theft of Momo's and Unji's powers. He warns that their scheme will draw the Sorcerers Association, reveals that only humans can wield yokai power, and finally moves to use Red Baron himself as the Fairy-Tale Card's fifth curse.
