Summary

Momo edges closer to dousing both the blaze and the molten flow with help from the dead Tsuchinoko, yet the Kito Family rounds on her for misusing the creature and claiming credit for the village's rescue. A shrine priest she encountered before steps between them, admitting that he too studies under Seiko and was sent to guard the teenagers.

When the Evil Eye returns to wreck the corpse and strike the clan, Momo shoves the priest and clan head aside with her powers, pleads for the spirit to quit harming people through Jiji, and asks after Okarun, but it ignores her every word. The clan head heaps blame on Momo, telling her to set her resentment aside as the spirit charges in to strike them.
