Akane Yanagi

Pink eyes and light pink hair, the latter shaved into a dark undercut with bangs brushed to one side, give Yanagi a face classmates rank among the best-looking in the series. His skin is fair and his features read as delicate.

How he corrects his vision shifts with the setting. During school hours he slips in contact lenses, then switches over to black-framed glasses once classes let out.

Soft-spoken and courteous, Yanagi carries himself with a mild, well-mannered calm. That quiet streak is not shyness turned inward; he genuinely wants to grow closer to the people he counts as friends, keeping his tone warm with classmates while loosening up most around Yuki, the girl he likes.

Mornings undo all of it. Caught in the fog between sleep and waking, he turns crude and aggressive, a reversal so total that others half-joke about two personalities sharing one body.

Yanagi enters the story by confessing to Yuki Yoshikawa, who turns him down on the belief that he is out of her league. His looks earn him the teasing label of high-class ingredients. He soon settles into Hori and Miyamura's group of friends, though traces of his feelings for Yuki occasionally resurface.

Yuki's relative Miki assumes the two are dating and clings to him for sport, leaving Yuki to apologize the following day. Of everyone, Yanagi most wants Kakeru Sengoku's friendship, a bond both boys quietly wish for yet struggle to put into words. He also connects with Sakura Kōno over a shared manga, Weekly Shinobi, and admires how coolly she handles herself. A chronic late sleeper, he is forever breaking his alarm clocks.
