Tomoko Higashikata

Tomoko carries an average height and a slim to medium frame, and she keeps her dark hair straight and near shoulder length, fixed with a hairpin. Her wardrobe shifts with every appearance, and more than one man in the story remarks on how striking she is.

Raising a son by herself while teaching, Tomoko has a fierce streak and bristles at men who make passes at her, since her heart still belongs to Joseph. She irritates easily yet is fundamentally warm, especially toward the people she loves, and she shows a sharp eye, once catching that a seal on a milk bottle had been tampered with. When Jotaro arrives searching for Josuke, she mistakes him for Joseph, bursts into tears, and embraces him. Her devotion to family runs deep, whether in her closeness to Josuke or her grief over her late father, though she can be stern too, freezing her son's account to bank a windfall toward his schooling. She keeps a soft spot for a Kamakura sponge cake, and fear makes her gulp down her own saliva.

While still in college she became involved with Joseph Joestar, who was already married to Suzi Q, so she kept her pregnancy secret and Joseph only learned of his son Josuke when the boy turned sixteen. As a young Josuke fell dangerously ill while his Stand emerged, she drove through a blizzard toward the hospital, only for the car to bog down in the snow until a pompadoured student saved them by wedging his coat beneath the tires. In Part 4 she is introduced striking a man who catcalled her, then endures the confusing visit from Jotaro. Overcome with grief, she takes a long time to clear out her father Ryohei's room after a stroke claims him, a death secretly engineered by the Stand Aqua Necklace. Later, Terunosuke Miyamoto breaks into her home and seals her inside paper with his Stand Enigma after spotting her tell of fear, using her to bait Josuke before Josuke and Yuya Fungami defeat him and free her.
