Summary

With Otoishi beaten, Jotaro recovers the Bow and Arrow but warns everyone to stay alert for the Stand users it has already produced. Josuke, meanwhile, feels nothing but awkwardness toward Joseph, a father he has never known and shares no bond with. He asks the old man only to watch Tomoko from a distance and then leave town. Hurt by the coldness yet unwilling to argue, Joseph boards a bus for the next town, prompting Josuke to chase after him.

Once Josuke catches up, Joseph notices strange handprints in the dirt and insists an invisible Stand user is close. Josuke dismisses it as senility until Joseph uses Hermit Purple to reveal an unseen baby girl. The pair are now stuck with the infant, and when she soils herself Joseph heads to a specialty shop for supplies. Overwhelmed by the vendor's endless products, he burns through all of Josuke's money. Trouble mounts when the baby cries, since her Achtung Baby ability spreads invisibility to everything around her, Joseph's hand included.

Disaster strikes when Joseph accidentally knocks the stroller into the river. In the clear water Josuke cannot locate the child and rounds on his father in anger. Wracked with guilt, Joseph slits his own wrist so his blood can trace the baby's outline, letting Josuke pull her to safety. Josuke's fury cools into admiration for the golden-hearted old man, right up until he remembers exactly how much of his money went to baby goods.

Notes

The thirteenth Diamond is Unbreakable episode, and the eighty-seventh overall, covers Chapters 315 through 317. The adaptation adds several bridging scenes, including Josuke phoning Tomoko, a reveal of his Joestar Birthmark, and an unseen mangaka receiving a Pink Dark Boy manuscript, an early hint at Rohan Kishibe. In his commentary Naokatsu Tsuda noted that the invisible portions were actually drawn into the key frames and then digitally erased afterward. A radio letter read on air references the killer's latest victim, tying back to the severed hand shown in the previous episode.
