Birdy

Birdy is a massive Sea King built along avian lines, sporting a yellow beak, purple plumes ringing its eyes, and a pink hide. A lengthy neck runs down to a torso bearing a tall pink dorsal fin and wing-shaped pectoral fins, finishing in a long tail capped by a fin. Soft down coats its head and body, gathering into ring-like, donut-shaped tufts along stretches of the neck and tail.

In keeping with its kind, Birdy honors Poseidon, that is, Shirahoshi, as queen and comes when she calls. It also treasures Noah, stepping in to keep Luffy from wrecking the ship because it waits for the promised day when the vessel will finally serve its purpose.

Birdy ranks among the ocean's largest and mightiest inhabitants, and the conversations it holds with other Sea Kings and with Shirahoshi mark it as notably intelligent. When the Straw Hats blundered into the Calm Belt, Birdy surfaced together with other Sea Kings such as Mottled and Googly-Eyed, but it quickly slipped back below, leaving only those two to menace the Going Merry.

Later, at Fish-Man Island, Birdy was among the Sea Kings Shirahoshi unknowingly summoned as Luffy struggled to smash Noah and spare the island. Birdy and five others, Mottled, Googly-Eye, Underbite, Scales, and Topknot, seized the ship's chains and arrested its plunge. Speaking with Shirahoshi, the Sea Kings told her she was their sovereign and had summoned them. Once she left to revive the unconscious Luffy, they remarked among themselves that he seemed to have understood their voices, just as Gol D. Roger once had, and pondered whether Noah could be mended before the promised day. After towing the ship to the Sea Forest, they departed.
