Personality

By Sea King standards Mottled is fairly mild-mannered. It honors Poseidon, manifested in Shirahoshi, as its sovereign and comes when she summons it. The creature also cherishes the ship Noah, stepping in to keep Luffy from wrecking it because it awaits the promised day when the vessel is meant to serve its purpose.

Abilities

Counting among the ocean's largest and mightiest inhabitants, Mottled wields raw power so great that a single sneeze can launch a ship the size of the Going Merry a considerable way across the water. It also displays clear intelligence, holding conversations with both its own kind and Shirahoshi.

Its first encounter with the Straw Hats came when their vessel drifted into the Calm Belt. Mottled surfaced alongside other Sea Kings, the Going Merry landed atop it, and a baffled Mottled, unable to spot the ship, sneezed and hurled the crew clear back toward East Blue. Later, on Fish-Man Island, it was one of six Sea Kings unknowingly drawn by Shirahoshi as Luffy fought to destroy Noah. Together with Birdy, Googly-Eyed, Underbite, Scales, and Topknot, it seized the ship's chains and stopped its fall. The Sea Kings spoke of how Luffy seemed to have heard their voices, as Gol D. Roger once had, wondered whether Noah could be mended before the promised day, then towed the ship to the Sea Forest and departed.
