Appearance

Halle is a tall, slim woman with a fair complexion, golden-brown eyes, and medium-length blonde hair cut into choppy, straight bangs, usually finished with red lipstick. She favors sharp business attire in her work for both the SPK and, later, Kiyomi Takada. Widely considered beautiful, her looks combined with her high-profile post as Takada's bodyguard make her something of a media figure. The video game gives her blue eyes and slightly darker hair.

Personality

A veteran of the Secret Service and the CIA, Halle joins the SPK driven by revenge, having lost someone close to her to Kyosuke Higuchi during his time as Kira. She insists she takes no side in the contest between Near and Mello to succeed L, yet in practice she serves Near while quietly slipping information to Mello, sometimes at Near's own request. Professional and unwavering in her dedication, she still harbors genuine concern for both successors, trusting Mello enough to shelter him and defending his choices when it matters. Like the rest of the SPK she works under an alias, and supplementary material rates her an independent thinker with first-rate bodyguard skills.

History

Lidner is among the original members of the SPK, one of the few spared when Mello seizes a Death Note and wipes out most of the unit. After Mello's hideout is exposed and his crew killed, he flees to New York and reaches out to her; she agrees to hide him in her apartment, briefing him each evening on Near's developing theories, including the suspicion that the second L is himself Kira. When Near bugs her clothing to stop the leaks, she simply relays information while showering. Mello later forces her to admit him into SPK headquarters after learning Near holds a photograph of him, and there she talks him out of shooting Near before he is permitted to leave, the two staying in contact.

Sent to Japan, Halle goes undercover as one of Kiyomi Takada's bodyguards on Near's orders, tasked with exposing the link between Takada and Kira while helping Anthony Rester detain Misa Amane and Kanzo Mogi. When Matt's smoke grenades erupt outside the NHN building, she hands Takada to Mello and alerts Near, sending the other guards uselessly after his motorcycle; she realizes Mello has died only when the team reaches the burning church. At the final showdown in the Yellow Box warehouse, she reasons that Mello's abduction of Takada was a deliberate gambit to force the real notebook into the open, the move that breaks the case. The post-series one-shot finds her still at Near's side with Rester and Gevanni.
