Summary

When writing Matsuda's alias fails to kill him, Higuchi strikes a bargain with Rem and gains the Shinigami Eyes. He then murders a police officer who stops his car, confirming to the watching investigators that he wields the second Kira's ability to kill on sight alone. Light and L fly toward the scene by helicopter, first chaining Misa to a chair to stop her slipping away. Judging the threat severe, L orders Higuchi seized at once.

Key Events

Higuchi heads to Yotsuba to lift Matsuda's name from security footage, only to find the tapes swapped. At Sakura TV, Soichiro has swapped mannequins in for Matsuda and the interviewer and cued a recording of the remaining footage as Mogi, Wedy, and Aiber close in on the station. Realizing the setup, Higuchi opens fire on Wedy, and Soichiro takes a non-fatal round to the arm shielding her before the target slips away. A roadblock then boxes Higuchi in, Watari shoots out his front tire from the helicopter, and the car slams into an embankment. Out of options, Higuchi raises his gun to his own head, but Watari snipes the weapon from his hand, and Light declares the chase finished.
