Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps during the Taisho era and the older brother of Genya. Scarred, ferocious, and driven by grief, he wields Wind Breathing and carries an exceptionally rare blood type that intoxicates demons.
Sanemi is a tall, heavily muscled young man with pale skin and unruly white hair that he trims shorter at one point during the story. His almond-shaped eyes hold small, light purple irises ringed with dark swirls, framed by shadowed patches that lend him a worn, restless look.
His body is covered in scars, including a jagged mark across his forehead, an X-shaped wound near his right temple, and a long line over his nose left by his transformed mother during childhood. He keeps the standard Corps jacket open to bare his chest, layers a white haori over it, and during the clash with Kokushibo loses two fingers from his right hand.
Sanemi is harsh, hot-headed, and obstinate, often indifferent to others and easily provoked. The one figure he treated with genuine respect was Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Beneath the aggression lies grief, as so many people he loved have died, hardening him into someone difficult to reach.
His cold treatment of Genya masked deep brotherly love, which surfaces only when the demon Kokushibo maims his younger brother. His hatred of demons runs so deep that he stabbed Nezuko's box and cut his own arm to test whether she would attack a human. After the final battle, he softens noticeably, sharing smiles with Giyu and offering Nezuko an apology and a pat on the head.
As a Hashira, Sanemi ranks among the Corps' deadliest fighters. He spars on even footing with Giyu Tomioka, cuts through hordes of demon-rank foes with ease, and holds his ground against Upper Rank One, Kokushibo, who judged that Sanemi's physical and technical skill had reached their limit. He is counted among the fastest of the Hashira and possesses tremendous strength, stamina, and pain tolerance, even flexing his muscles to hold fatal wounds closed mid-fight.
During the battle with Kokushibo he awakens a Demon Slayer Mark resembling a green paper windmill on his cheek, boosting his power further, and later turns his blade bright red to hamper regeneration. His Marechi blood is among the rarest known, so potent that a faint trace dizzies even the strongest demons, though Kokushibo eventually adapts to it. He is a master of Wind Breathing, the foremost user of his generation, commanding its nine forms from First Form, Dust Whirlwind Cutter, to Ninth Form, Idaten Typhoon.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned $778 million globally and nearly 40 billion yen in Japan, but it still couldn't top Mugen Train's domestic record. Here's why that barely matters....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
